Prawn sukka fry – Shrimp sukka fry

Preparation time: 15 mins(includes cleaning steps)
Cooking time: 10 minutes


Prawns/shrimp- 100gms
2 Onions – finely chopped
1 ½ tomatoes – finely chopped
1tsp ginger-garlic paste
1tbsp Chilli powder
1 ½ tbsp Coriander powder
1tsp turmeric powder
Few Curry leaves (optional)
Coriander leaves – to garnish


  • Clean prawns by cutting the head and tail off. Remove the outer shell. Devein the prawns using a small paring knife. Add some turmeric powder to get rid of the smell. Wash with clean water twice and keep aside.
  • In a kadai heat oil and fry the finely chopped onions till golden brown. add ginger-garlic paste and saute.
  • Then add the tomatoes to it and cook till it turns soft.

  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt to it. Mix well.
  • To the onion-tomato paste add some water(1 cup)
  • Let it come to boil. Now add the cleaned prawns to it.

  • Roast it in high flame with some more oil till dry.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
