3 Step Biryani | Instant Biryani | Veg Biryani
Believe it or not!!! yes its instant biryani… No need to go for
instant ready-to-eat recipes. Just in 3 steps the biryani is ready. We already
knew about chicken, mutton, fish, prawns and oh yeah some vegetable biryanis. This
biryani is kinda basic and simple recipe which u can alter accordingly or leave
as such to taste on its own.
Amma used to make this recipe in weekends… I used to call this as biryani and my appa cal it as thengai sadham. So its ur wish to name either of it or name it in ur own style.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Ingredients
1 Cup Basmathi Rice
1 Onion
1 Green chilli
1 tomato
2-3 tbsp Oil
Coriander Leaves ( to garnish)
To grind
4 Garlic cloves
1/2 inch of ginger piece
4-5 Red Chillies
1tsp Coriander seeds/Dhaniya
½ tsp Fennel Seeds/Sombhu
1 Clove
1 Cinnamon
1 Cardamom
1-2 tbsp of grated coconut
To Temper
1 Cinnamon
1 Bayleaf
How I made It
- Dry roast all the items under ‘to grind’ table except coconut and make it as a smooth paste along with coconut in a mixie. Keep aside
- Soak rice in 1 ½ cups of water for 10 mins (not more than that)
- In a kadai heat oil and add the items under ‘to temper’
- Once it splutters add straight-wise chopped onions. Slit the green chilly and add to it. Fry till onions cook soft.
- Now add the ground smooth paste and fry till the raw smell goes off
- Then add tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes goes gooey.
- Now add the soaked rice without water (retain the water)
- Quick fry the rice and add the retained water. Check for salt at this time. Cook for 5 mins in high flame and for 10 mins in low flame. Serve hot with Raitha.
PS:
For cooking in a pressure cooker follow the same procedure.
Keep for 1 whistle then simmer the flame, cook for 5mins and serve.
