Ingredients
2 Onions
4 tomatoes
1 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
Generous pinch of garam masala (optional)
Salt
Oil
To temper:
1 bay leaf
1 inch cinnamon stick
To grind:
2tsp grated coconut
4-5 cashews
How to make it
- In a mixer grind the items by adding little of water into a smooth paste. Soak cashews in warm water before grinding.
- In a wok heat oil and temper the items given.
- Fry onions till transparent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook till it turns mushy.
- Throw all the masala powders given. Add 1-2 cups of water.
- Check for salt and allow it to boil in medium flame.
- Add the ground paste to the gravy. Mix well.
- Once it starts to boil, switch off the stove.
- Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with Idly or Dosa.
